Heart Huddle

Sunday March 15, 2020

Life is better when you’re having fun with other heart families! Bring your heart family to our first annual Heart Huddle to meet or reunite with Camp Odayin friends! Families of a heart child 12th grade and below are all welcome, no need to have attended Camp Odayin in the past. Cost to attend is $25 per family.  We are able to cover the cost if you are unable.

Registration deadline is March 1st

New users – create an account on the right side of the page. Do not use your heart child’s name with your new user account, please use your name.

What is the Heart Huddle?

This enjoyable day for the entire family will include education, speakers, and hands-on activities as well as campy fun such as games, archery, and rock climbing.  Our goal at the Heart Huddle is to bring heart families together and offer experiences for the whole family – including heart kids, parents/guardians, and siblings. We are hosting the Heart Huddle in place of the Spring Splash this year and are excited to offer families a new experience.

Parents – Join us for an educational and enlightening morning with pediatric cardiologists Dr. Jon Johnson from the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Kelly Han from the Minneapolis Heart Institute.  Both will be addressing latest trends and treatments in pediatric cardiology as well as transitioning from pediatric cardiology to adult congenital cardiology care.  Mental Health professionals will also be speaking about depression, anxiety and trauma and how to help heart kids cope with their diagnosis.

Heart Warriors and Super Siblings – Kid time was planned with you in mind with arts and crafts, yoga/meditation, music and games…a separate time to connect with other kids who get it.  This is a time for you to get empowered by learning ways to take charge of your own health.  Join us to try something fun and new!

Family Time – Do you ever wonder what your kids love about camp? Come ready to play with your kids during an afternoon of Family Fun activities. Jump right into the fun with the indoor high ropes course, archery, and/or climbing wall, along with camp-like games such as gaga ball, four square, and giant Jenga. You’ll feel like a kid at camp while making memories with your family.

What to wear and bring

Families are encouraged to wear gear from their favorite sport team.  Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing for walking, sitting, stretching, and playing.
Bring a water bottle and a signed copy of the Base Camp Waiver with you. You will receive this via email prior to the Heart Huddle. If you are unable to print the waiver for any reason, there will be copies available upon arrival at the event.
