Our highest priority is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our campers and staff. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following program and event changes in accordance with best practices and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, American Camp Association, local health authorities, and medical professionals. Visit specific camp and event webpages for details regarding upcoming plans for 2022.
Summer Camp in 2020 was offered through the creation of a new virtual camp experience, Hearts@Home. This online option was received with enthusiasm and will continue in order to support heart warriors who might not otherwise attend Camp Odayin in-person. In 2021, Camp Odayin provided in-person, outdoor Day Camps near Milwaukee, Chicago, East Twin Cities, West Twin Cities, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. An overnight Graduate Camp was offered to campers whose final summer of camp would have been in 2020 or 2021. Stringent COVID-19 protocols, created in partnership with the American Camp Association were in place during all camp sessions.
Family Camp was offered virtually in the fall of 2020 and 2021.
The Moms Retreat was hosted in person with COVID-19 modifications including masks and single occupancy rooms in 2020 in Stillwater, MN and in 2021 in both Stillwater, MN and Lake Geneva, WI.
Dads Day was offered for the first time in 2021 as an in-person opportunity, prior to which COVID-19 testing was required and activities were primarily outdoors.
Whole Heart Golf Tournament was hosted with COVID-19 precautions and all activities occurring outdoors in 2020 and 2021.
The Have a Heart Benefit was canceled in 2020 and hosted as a drive-in fundraiser in 2021.
Happy Hearts Happy Hour was hosted virtually in 2020 and entirely outside, in-person in 2021.
Flannels & Friends in Milwaukee was canceled in 2020 and will be hosted outside, in-person in 2021.
The Big Heart Bash, a new fundraiser in Chicago, was previously scheduled for October 7, 2021, but has been postponed. A new date will be determined for the Spring of 2022.
