2024 Heart of Gold Award

Each spring at the Have a Heart Benefit, we recognize a volunteer who has made an exceptional contribution to our mission. Our 2024 Heart of Gold award winner is Dr. Bryan Cannon. We’re so grateful for his support of our mission and for his generous role in our story.

“Dr. Bryan” is a pediatric cardiologist and adult congenital cardiologist with a specialty in electrophysiology at the Mayo Clinic. He is the TALLEST pediatric electrophysiologist in the country!

He is also a volunteer camp doctor at Odayin. Not only does he provide safety and fun at camp, he goes above and beyond to bring joy to our heart heroes, knowledge to their parents, and supports our mission in so many ways.

πŸ’™ Last summer he dressed up as a can of soda pop and conducted taste tests at lunch every day. Kids tasted pickle, enchilada, ranch, sweet corn and turkey flavored pop under his careful watch.

πŸ’™ He’s the first to climb in the dunk tank.

πŸ’™ He once came to camp with a broken ankle and used a scooter.

πŸ’™ He followed the Winter Camp bus to Milwaukee to provide medical support.

πŸ’™ He speaks during our parent education time at Family Camp.

πŸ’™ He put together silent auction packages for our fundraisers.

πŸ’™ He always says – β€œI’d be happy to step into a counselor role if needed at camp.”
