Odayin on the Morning Mix

We’re so excited to have been featured on Chicago’s The Morning Mix podcast on April 20, 2023. Amazing and hysterical hosts, Chris and Nikki, talked to camp cardiologist – Dr. Melissa Nater, Elena Westbrook – a former camper who is now a camp counselor, and Wisconsin Summer Camp Co-Director – Kelsey Sohrweide.

Dr. Melissa Nater, a pediatric cardiologist at Advocate Aurora, shares her story about overcoming her fear of ziplining at camp: “They made me do it, I am super scared. And then, I am like how am I scared to zipline down when there are 7 year-olds that just had heart surgery who can do it? Ziplining is not my thing. You see these kids do it over and over and they just want to go again. And you’re like, you know, they are just fearless. And then when you think about it, they have faced so much worse than a zipline. Right? They go through pain and to the surgeries and procedures and things like that that nobody gets unless you have gone through the same thing. It gives you a whole different perspective of the appreciation of life but also how strong these kids are.”
