At Camp Odayin… “For the first time in my life, I was able to have not only one, but many conversations with other parents who actually could relate to our situation. Not only relate, they completely understood. Our conversations were not filled with pity and ‘oh how sad…’ or ‘that must be so difficult’ comments. I was able to talk to another dad about our children’s heart issues and concerns like we were talking about our kids playing sports on the same team. I can’t express to you how much that helps.”

Dads Day is a day of outdoor recreation on the shores of Lake Minnetonka to build camaraderie and connection between parents of children with heart disease. Dads will enjoy large group activities, including a talk with Children’s Heart Clinic cardiologist Dr. Andy Schneider, archery, boom ball, and cornhole. There will be optional activities during the afternoon such as kayaking, riding the trolley and visiting the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society museum, biking, or a tasting at Excelsior Brewing. The day will conclude with dinner on a private chartered cruise on Lake Minnetonka. Breakfast, lunch, and probably some ice cream will be provided as well.
The registration deadline is Friday, August 6th. Any dad of a heart child in 12th grade or younger is eligible to attend Dads Day, even if you or your child have never attended an Odayin program in the past. As is the case for all Camp Odayin programs, we ask for a $25 registration fee. Our cost is $250 per dad and if you are able, we appreciate your support by making a tax-deductible donation in addition to the $25 fee. The remaining funds will be raised by Camp Odayin on your behalf.
Camp Odayin welcomes transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming parents to attend Dads Day or the Moms Retreat. Please contact us if you have any questions prior to registering.
