Overview
Camp Odayin offers two heart moms’ retreats in different regions of the Midwest. Any mom of a heart child in 12th grade or younger is eligible to attend a Moms Retreat. Heart moms may choose to attend either session, but may only attend one. This supportive weekend includes lakefront accommodations at Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva, optional “me time” activities, fabulous guest speakers, meals and camaraderie. Both retreats begin on Saturday morning and conclude at noon on Sunday.
Camp Odayin welcomes transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming parents to attend the Moms Retreat or Dads Day. Please contact info@campodayin.org if you have any questions prior to registering.
Payment & Financial Support
We recognize that families of a child with heart disease manage additional emotional and economic stress. Our Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) model supports our commitment to make our programs accessible to everyone in our community. There is a $50 registration fee per parent and there is always an option to pay $0. If you have questions on the cost of camp, contact the Camp Odayin office at info@campodayin.org.
If it would be beneficial to your family, we offer transportation support by reimbursing up to $200 for your travel costs. Contact the Camp Odayin office at brooke@campodayin.org for details on the travel cost reimbursement process.
Objectives
The Camp Odayin Moms Retreat weekend will seek to improve the quality of life of caregivers through the following objectives:
- Provide emotional support – Through time with other caregivers, heart moms will strengthen their support system and validate each other’s experiences
- Provide an opportunity for self-care – Heart moms will be offered restorative sessions and learn stress reduction techniques
- Empower and strengthen – Heart moms will gain resources and have opportunities to ask questions of experts to better support themselves and their families
Moms Retreat weekends are planned by amazing committees of volunteer heart moms!
